The Colorado Center for Weight Management provides a medically supervised weight loss program consisting of low-calorie diet plans administered by a physician board certified in the treatment of obesity. The staff is highly trained and includes registered dietitians who are board certified through the American Dietetic Association. Also we will work with your primary care physician and keep him or her informed of your progress. Each new patient must have an initial Diagnostic and Health Assessment before beginning any of our weight loss programs. This helps us identify the causes of your weight problems and is the basis for your individualized eating plan. Your initial visit will require two hours. Please allow for this time when scheduling your appointment. We usually have our new patients come in before your initial visit with Dr. Day so we can draw blood and obtain an electrocardiogram that will then be read in the next few days so it can be discussed when you and the doctor discuss what diet would be best for you. If you must cancel your appointment for any reason, please notify us as soon as possible since that time has been reserved specifically for you. History and Physical Examination When scheduling your first appointment, we will provide you with a medical and diet history form. Please bring the completed forms with you at the time that you come in for blood work and an electrocardiogram. We are interested in detecting any evidence of past or current illness that might be contributing to your weight problem or affect the treatment prescribed. Laboratory Test Blood and urine specimens will be obtained before your first visit to allow that it can be processed and read before we determine which diet is best suited for you. To ensure optimal health throughout the duration of your time with us, we will have diagnostic profile done every four weeks which includes: complete blood count, urinalysis, lipids, thyroid, iron, liver tests, proteins, calcium, phosphorous, magnesium, and blood sugar. Additional Information If possible, do not eat anything for
twelve (12) hours before your initial lab test. However it is important
to drink plenty of water during this time period or you may not feel
well. Continue normal eating patterns until your first visit. Dietary
changes prior to this time may alter your test results. |
