Heather Cherry, after earning a Bachelor of Science
with a minor in Chemistry from the University of Arizona,
moved on to the University of Houston to complete her studies
in dietetics.
While in Houston, she worked with several populations—kidney
failure patients at Davita (the largest renal clinic in the
nation), medical and surgical ICU patients at Park Plaza
Hospital (working with tube feeds, cancer patients, AIDS
patients, heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure), Sysco
Corporation Headquarters, and Methodist Wellness Center
outpatient clinic (working with cardiac rehabilitation, health
fairs, and weight loss programs).
Shortly after graduation in Houston, Heather moved back to
her home town of Lakewood, Colorado, and passed the national
examination for certification in Dietetics, and soon
thereafter started working at the Colorado Center for Weight
Management with Dr. James Day.
Heather is now the Head dietitian at CCWM, and sees about
sixty-five patients weekly.
She has been an active member for the American
Diabetes Association for the past three years , and is
also an active skier and mountain biker, participating in
several races in the Denver area.
