The Exchange Plan 
The
Exchange Plan is designed to provide weight loss while allowing
flexibility of eating choices.
It is a low fat program, balanced in lean meats, fish, poultry,
vegetables, fruits, starches, and low fat dairy products. Your
dietitian will help design a menu for you incorporating your
preferences.
This program is reasonable for those in need of modest weight loss.
You can reasonably expect to lose 10–15 percent of your weight
within four to six months. This is an excellent plan to maintain
your weight loss as it is based on healthy life style eating
practices.
The Modified Fast Plan
Even though it is a major departure from normal eating, in choosing
the Modified Fast Plan, most people experience little hunger after
the first few days.
With this plan, you may choose to eat small daily portions of lean
meat, fish, or poultry; a few salad items are included for variety,
fiber, and texture. You may occasionally substitute a powdered
protein supplement. In addition to a daily water requirement, you
may have low calorie beverages, including decaffeinated coffee, tea,
and sugar-free soft drinks. You will also need daily supplements of
vitamins and minerals, which are supplied by the Colorado Center for
Weight Management.
The Modified Fast Plan may be used safely until goal weight is
reached, or as a way to get your weight loss program off to a quick
start before switching to the Exchange
Plan. Limited as the menu might seem, those who follow it
closely experience little hunger, maintain high energy, and
generally feel well.
The Omnifast Plan
This version of modified fasting uses liquid and easy to cook
protein supplements (soup, eggs, pancakes, juices) instead of lean
meats, fish, and poultry.
The Omnifast Plan uses a protein formula similar to that used on the
Modified Fast Plan; it contains high quality protein, and is
available in a variety of hot and cold flavors. These supplements
are available only to the medical community and should not be
confused with over-the-counter products.
Most patients who closely follow the Omnifast Plan lose weight
rapidly, experience little hunger, maintain high energy, and
generally feel well. This program may be used for the duration of
the weight loss phase if so desired.
The Maintenance Plan
You will take part in a strong maintenance program that includes
a ten week long course in behavior modification, and frequent weekly
visits to our Registered dietitians. Moreover, your progress will be
constantly monitored by a physician.
